What We Believe

Our Central Vision

Our central vision is about ‘enjoying God's love and sharing it' with those around us, and so helping them to flourish in all areas of life.

Our Guiding Values

Our guiding values are succinctly described by an Old Testament prophet, called Micah:

  • To act justly in every situation, recognising that justice is a key part of God’s character.
  • To show mercy to everyone, recognising that God has been so merciful to us.
  • To walk humbly every day, recognising that humility characterised Jesus' life.

Our New Testament Model

Our aim is to model for our generation some key features of the Church in the New Testament, in which we see a series of charismatic Christian communities that were connected to each other, and to the world around them.

Charismatic

One feature of the first century church at its best was undoubtedly the vitality of its spiritual life. At NLC we seek to develop and use our spiritual gifts, and to be led by the Holy Spirit in our various meetings and in our daily lives.

Communities

People often lament the loss of a sense of community in modern western culture. This is the opposite of what God wants, because it is the opposite of what He knows we need. This means that church life cannot be defined only as the sum total of a series of organised meetings, but is formed in the often messy realities of day to day living, supporting one another.

Connected

The New Testament paints a picture of inter-dependent Christian communities, mutually concerned for each other’s welfare. New Life Church very much values the whole Christian Community in the Cambridge area - and beyond. But we also seek to build connections with the communities around us, reaching out to serve and bless them in many ways.

Conclusion

Obviously our culture today is often very different to that of the New Testament, but we firmly believe that these basic principles are as timeless - and are as relevant today as they were back then.

We look forward to seeing you sometime soon!

– Ian Rawley, Pastor

Statement Of Doctrines

New Life Church adheres to the following statement of doctrines:

  • The unity of the Godhead and the divine co-equality of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit; the Sovereignty of God in creation, providence and redemption.
  • The true and proper deity of our Lord Jesus Christ; His Virgin Birth; His real and perfect manhood; the authority of His teaching and infallibility of all His utterances; His work of atonement for sinners of mankind by His vicarious sufferings, His death and bodily resurrection and His ascension into Heaven; His present priestly intercession for His people.
  • The full inspiration of the Holy Scriptures; their authority and sufficiency as not only containing, but being in themselves, the Word of God; the reliability of the New Testament in its testimony to the character and authorship of the Old Testament; and the need of the teaching of the Holy Spirit to a true and spiritual understanding of the whole.
  • The reality of original sin in consequence of the fall and the necessity of regeneration.
  • The justification of the sinner solely by faith through the atoning merits of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
  • The necessity of the work of the Holy Spirit in conversion and sanctification; also in ministry, in worship, and in the exercising of spiritual gifts through the body of believers.
  • The return of the Lord Jesus Christ in Glory.

Accessibility

There is wheelchair access and a disabled toilet on the ground floor. There is wheelchair access to the first floor by lift.

Our Sunday Service

The main service begins at 10:00am with a warm welcome from one of our leadership team. Then follows a time of  worship, led by our band. Sometimes a person might pray out loud or read a small passage from the Bible. Sometimes people share things that they believe God is saying to the whole church family. This might seem strange the first time that you hear it, but it’s all part of our connecting with God. One of our leaders will then give a sermon that is Bible-based and that we can apply to our everyday life. We then finish with a final worship song. There is always an opportunity to receive prayer at the end of the service.

What About My Kids?

We have a great programme lined up for kids of all ages (click on them to find out more about them):

We really value worshipping God together as a family, so we encourage children stay with their parent or grown-up at the start of the service for the welcome, songs and notices. After this, the children will go to their various groups. You will need to go with your children to their groups and register them as part of our Safeguarding Policy.

The kids' group activities vary depending on the age but usually there is a friendly welcome, Bible stories, testimonies, praying, music, craft, drama, fun games and free play. Please pick your children up as soon as the service finishes.

Getting Connected

Small Groups

While Sundays are a great way to meet new people, it is often in smaller gatherings that you can really get to know someone. Being part of one of our small groups allows you to make new friends, share together and support each other. We have a variety of groups that meet throughout the week, some afternoons and some evenings. Check out our Midweek Groups page and see if there’s one that you could join, or we can put you in touch with a small group leader who will be more than happy to invite you along to their group.

Serving & Volunteering

If you want to get involved in the life of the church and help us make Sundays run smoothly, you can sign up to serve on a team.

As well as leading New Life Church, over the last few decades I have had the immense privilege of helping to equip church leaders in many nations of the world. Welcome to our website & our church!

Hello and welcome! I decided to follow Jesus when I was 15 years old and it has been the greatest adventure of my life! At New Life Church, I lead our youth ministry and our women's ministry. I also work alongside Ian and our leadership team in overseeing our pastoral care. We are here to serve you!

We are looking forward to welcoming you to New Life Church and hope you enjoy your time with us.
